3-D Literacy actualizes this concept of Arts Integration, connecting English Language Arts and Theatre Arts for 2 nd and 3 rd graders to create a world in which students don’t just read stories, they step inside them.
Reading, vocabulary and grammar leap off the page and come to life through theater games and creative literacy activities. Professional, NYCPS-vetted master teaching artists collaborate with teachers to deliver interactive lessons during the school day based on current ELA curriculum and NYS Teaching Standards.
As the sole provider of this unique program, Sundog Theatre furthers this innovative approach to incorporate a foundational element of Social Emotional Learning. Through our partnership with Focus 5, we explore behavior as a choice and a literacy, equipping educators with effective classroom management strategies that support a positive learning environment long after the residency ends.
3-D Literacy incorporates multiple intelligences and brain-based learning theories on how the brain learns and retains. Through this program, students:
