Guided by a trained musician and an award-winning poet, students create their own music and spoken word in response to today’s world and what they envision for the future.

Choral music is much more than words and a tune–it is human instinct and a form of communication to sing and express! Students learn to sing as a group and understand rhythm, tempo, pitch, volume, harmony, and more.

Students experience joy with fast paced, energetic drumming while they listen to the beat, keep rhythm with their peers, and play along with various songs from popular to cultural.

Students are introduced to music theory and put it to action by learning how to simultaneously sing and play the ukulele, guitar, or violin.

This program gives students a safe space to compose music that expresses their ideas on conflict resolution as a prevention to gun violence. Artistic expression empowers them as active change agents rather than victims.

The art of using your body as an instrument creates rhythmic patterns and sounds. This can be in conjunction with choral or percussion residencies.
