STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Sundog Theatre is shouting news about its six plays and creative team for Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry FALL 2024 to be presented Saturday, Oct. 26 to Sunday, Nov. 3 at New Dorp Moravian Church Theatre at the Parish House.

Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry FALL 2024 is Sundog Theatre’s 23nd annual presentation and the first of future fall productions of six new and original one-act plays about the ferry as they move their production from spring to fall for all future shows.

Sundog Theatre received more than 50 submissions of unique and never-produced plays.

This year playwrights were asked to adhere to the theme “Secrets Exposed.”

Sundog Theatre’s Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry FALL 2024 winning plays are:

“Before I Propose I Need to Tell You Something” by Scott Mullen, directed by Sam Forin, and featuring Sam Labovitz and Emma Sarah Davis.

Scott Mullen is a Hollywood screenplay analyst and screenwriter, a two-time winner of Amazon Studios’ screenwriting contest who co-wrote the Lifetime movie “Line Sisters.”.

“It’s Over” by Matthew Gilleece, directed by Eric Petillo, and featuring Henry Thomas Lange and Maggie Tully.

Matthew is a prize-winning screenwriter, playwright, lyricist, actor and musician. His plays have been workshopped and performed at venues from New York City to Los Angeles to London, most recently at Ghostlight Players’ Ghost Writers Playwright Festival. His plays were featured in Scenes… 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, and “An A-Bridged History of Staten Island,” a musical he wrote with his son, Peter, was produced by Sundog in June 2023.

“Love Games” by Alice Burke, directed by Courtney Emerson and featuring Peter Gilleece, Anna Jeffries, Olivia Francis.

Alice Burke started writing one-acts in 2022. Her day job is transcription and typing for her own company. She is a volunteer EMT with her husband in Halesite, Long Island, and is a background actor for TV and movies. Alice’s one-act plays have been done in seven states so far.

“Nothing To Lose” by Ruben Carbajal, directed by Catherine Lamm, and featuring Timothy Carr and Isabelle Garbani. Residing near Ithaca, N.Y., Ruben is somewhat known for the ‘80s comedy “The Gifted Program “(DPS). Last year, his radio play, “Something in the Air,” was broadcast as part of Sundog’s “The Originals” and will be excerpted in Smith & Kraus’ upcoming anthology, “The Best Men’s Stage Monologues of 2024.” You can also find some of his newest short plays published by Stage Partners.

“The Perfect Bundt” by Courtney Emerson, directed by G. Lamb, and featuring Damian Cruces, Cody Hodgins, and Amie Margoles. Courtney is a visual artist from Staten Island. Her love for the arts shows itself in many ways, inspiring her to dive into all aspects of stage arts, such as acting, prop and costume design, and directing, as well as joining the Dramatists Guild as a playwright this past year.

“Trove” by Theo Gallagher, directed by Ken Tirado and featuring Frank Ninivaggi and Aren Iverson. Theo spent 30 years teaching high school chemistry/physics and retired in 1999. He is spending the new century pursuing a quest to become a Renaissance Man. Footsteps on that road include “De Ja Columbus,” produced by Thespian Productions in New York City, “The Losers” and “Silly Numbers,” produced by Sundog Theatre on Staten Island, New York and “Spirit Equity,” produced by Lakeshore Players Theatre in White Bear Lake, Minn.

Producer is Susan Fenley, Victoria Colella is co-producer, Stephen Fehr is set/stage designer, and Margaret Grace is production stage manager.

Performances of “Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry FALL 2024″ are Oct. 26 at 8 p.m., Oct. 27 at 3 p.m., Nov. 1 and 2 at 8 p.m., and Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. at New Dorp Moravian Theatre at the Parish House, 2205 Richmond Rd.
